Helen had recently moved into sheltered-accommodation. She was suffering from depression and found it difficult to socialise. Her relationship with her family, who lived close-by, was strained. Helen was invited to the church group where she made friends with her peers and a young couple. A middle-aged woman from the group visited Helen and helped her with her shopping. In time Helen came through her depression. Within the group her childhood faith was renewed and Helen began to be a support to others. Eventually Helen discovered she had cancer. For two years, until her death, the group supported her through her treatment. She is sorely missed by young and old in the group, who were privileged to know her.

The above is based on a true story. It demonstrates something  of the need and potential for projects like NYNO. We hope to add more stories, of the old and young, as the project progresses.
